legal help brooklynThe Boro Park Jewish Community Council (BPJCC) is partnering with the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) to provide free legal services for the community.  "The mission of the Boro Park JCC is to be there to assist members of our community," said Isaac Stern BPJCC President. "In many instances community members need the service of an attorney but are unable to afford them. We are this thrilled to provide these quality legal services through NYLAG."

One day a week a NYLAG attorney will be based at Boro Park to help residents with the following four legal areas:

  1. Housing: tenant's rights, evictions, Section 8 disputes, and other general housing issues.
  2. Immigration: assistance with citizenship, green card, and legal status. All inquiries are strictly confidential and are provided to undocumented immigrants as well
  3. Public Benefits: assisting clients with issues regarding Social Security, SSI, appeals to Food Stamps and Medicaid ,and fair hearings
  4. Family: divorce and child custody.

BPJCC is an affiliate of Met Council, was founded to serve Boro Park and surrounding areas with all their social service needs, such as: Medicaid and Child Health Plus, food stamps, employment, crisis assistance, immigration, financial counseling and legal services, as well as services to seniors and holocaust survivors.
