CourtHelp, the New York Court System’s website for people appearing in civil court without a lawyer, recently underwent a major redesign to help demystify court processes and procedures, and provide easy to understand explanations of the law and legal rights .

Some features to note include:

-Information on court case basics and many new legal topics, including debt-related matters and foreclosures.

-Helpful quick links, including Find a Lawyer, Help Centers, LawHelpNY and a comprehensive plain-language glossary.

-A court locator box on every page to make it easier for users to find their court.

-An improved mobile-device experience.

A majority of New York State citizens represent themselves when going to court, and this website is an essential resource for them. CourtHelp will continue to expand in 2015, adding features and legal information, including a search button and A-Z topics. Additionally, improvement will be made to strengthen the links between the information on CourtHelp and LawHelpNY. The CourtHelp site is maintained by the NYS Courts Access to Justice Program.
