Services and Benefits for New York Veterans and their familiesHome to over 1,000,000 veterans, New Yorkers lead the way in service to our country.  80,000 New York veterans have served or are currently serving in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, including more than 7,000 members of the New York Army National Guard. Many of our Veterans have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan more than once, which in turn has taken its toll on them and their families.

Because the variety of benefits and services available to Veterans and their families is vast and spans local, state and federal governments, accessing them can be difficult and confusing. The legal aid organization, LawNY  has launched the Veterans Civil Legal Hotline.

This hotline provides free statewide civil legal services to veterans and their families.  They take calls that also deal with homelessness prevention, foreclosure assistance, disability benefits, unemployment insurance benefits, and public benefits.  Whenever possible, they try to provide referrals and information to local Veteran services and organizations.
