Who We Are
Legal Services of the Hudson Valley is dedicated to working with qualifying low-income individuals and families who otherwise would have nowhere else to turn for help. We determine who is financially eligible to receive our assistance by using federal guidelines and specific eligibility criteria determined by grants.

- Income Guidelines
Generally up to 200% of the poverty level, with limited exceptions - Income can exceed 200% of the poverty level for some individuals in our veterans, LGBTQ, elder, HIV, breast cancer, domestic violence, crime victims, foreclosure, Medicaid long term care units, and parent/guardian child welfare proceedings (Westchester), certain individuals with mental illness (Westchester), and kinship caregivers (Westchester).

We provide assistance in basic life necessities matters including: housing, foreclosure, domestic violence, immigration, crime victims, public benefits, disability, and consumer. Additionally, we have several specialized units in certain counties for veterans, victims of domestic violence, LGBTQ individuals, individuals with AIDS/HIV, seniors, children, and individuals receiving or seeking Medicaid long term care services. Parent/guardian child welfare proceedings (Westchester), certain individuals with mental illness (Westchester), and kinship caregivers (Westchester)
- Emergency Instructions
An emergency may be a 14-day notice of eviction and warrant from a marshal or sheriff, homelessness, no food in the household, or utility shut off.
