Hardship Declaration Form Builder

Authored By: Eviction Free NY

Under New York state rules, if you cannot pay your rent and have experienced financial hardship due to Covid-19, you cannot be evicted until after May 1. You will need to submit a hardship declaration to your landlord or the court in order to protect yourself from eviction. Right to Counsel, Housing Justice for All, and launched a new website to help tenants submit their hardship declaration forms online and in an accessible, easy to use format that ensures tenants can take full advantage of the temporary protections provided by the new law. You can use this tool to: fill out your hardship declaration form online; automatically populate your landlord's information if you live in NYC; or send your form by email to your landlord and the courts, or by USPS certified mail for free to your landlord.
