"Property for self-support" means things or money you need to make a living. If you get help from the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, some of these things or money won't be counted when they decide if you can still get SSI benefits.

Usually, the first $6,000 of these things or money is not counted. These could be tools you use for your job, stuff you need for your business, or other important things that help you make a living.

These rules may change, so it's a good idea to talk to the Social Security Administration to be sure.
