Three Changes in New York's Medicaid and Medicare Savings Program

As of April 2008, Medicaid permits all beneficiaries to have more savings or financial resources. Also, the "Medicare Savings Program,"which pays the Medicare Part B monthly premium and sometimes other Medicare costs, no longer sets a limit on the amount of savings one may have to qualify. Also, Medicaid no longer requires drug and alcohol screening for people under 65.
