LawHelpNY is committed to your privacy. It is important to us.

Our privacy policy describes how we collect and use information about you. This policy doesn't apply to other sites you reach through LawHelpNY.org. You should read the privacy policies of other Web sites to learn how they collect and use information about you.

LiveHelp

This site uses Comm100 to provide LiveHelp chat services on this site.

Comm100 collects information, such as:

  • information about the computer, browser, and Internet Service Provider that you use,

  • the date and time when you visit, and

  • the pages on LawHelpNY.org that you visit.

As of the last time we updated this policy, when you chat with a LiveHelp operator, Comm100 stores a copy of that chat on its service, as well as the answers to any survey questions the chat asks you. Comm100 uses the information it collects according to the terms of its own Comm100 Privacy Policy (see particularly #10, “User Data”).

Please only use this tool to ask for help finding information on the site or to describe in general terms the kind of legal information you are looking for. LiveHelp operators cannot act as your lawyer and if you tell them details about your legal situation in a chat, they may not be able to keep those details confidential from other people involved in your situation, depending on the legal rules in your location.

How do you use the information that you collect?

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others. LiveHelp staff may use the information:

  • to train Web site specialists,

  • to evaluate LiveHelp,

  • to report on the project's success, and

  • to perform other administrative tasks.

We will remove your name, email address, and other information that someone could use to identify you before we use the information. We will only use your email address if you have given us permission to contact you later or requested that a transcript of your chat be emailed to you.

Do we share the information we collect online?

No, we do not share any information about you unless we are required by law to share.
