Access Justice Brooklyn offers free legal assistance to financially eligible low-income residents of Brooklyn.

The program provides assistance with family law matters such as custody and child support, uncontested divorces, wills, health care proxies, 17A Guardianship, foreclosure prevention, consumer debt defense and Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

The program also provides representation for the day to homeowners in Department of Buildings matters before the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) in Brooklyn.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Access Justice Brooklyn has expanded its services to include:

  • Access Justice Brooklyn COVID-19 Frontline Workers Initiative - to recognize the sacrifice and dedication of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East members during the COVID-19 crisis, the Access Justice Brooklyn is offering the free preparation of life planning documents (wills, health care proxies, powers of attorney, parental designation forms, and other life planning documents) to qualifying members who live anywhere in NYC.
  • Additionally, if you are the immediate relative of someone who recently passed away and need probate assistance (assistance with a small estate affidavit or “Affidavit of Voluntary Administration”) for estates of $50,000 or less, please reach out to the Access Justice Brooklyn  for assistance. We accept calls from anyone living in NYC.
