Legal Aid Society: Public Housing Unit

The Public Housing Unit (PHU) works directly with and advocates on behalf of NYCHA residents and applicants across the five boroughs of New York City. Additionally, the PHU works with households undergoing conversion to Project-Based Section 8 under NYCHA's PACT program and the newly formed NYCHA Public Housing Preservation Trust. The PHU staffs a helpline that provides support and advice to public housing and NYCHA Section 8 tenants.

The PHU team is active in communities undergoing PACT/Trust conversions, attending tenant meetings, holding info sessions and meeting one-on-one with tenants on tenant rights issues.
