LawHelpNY is an online referral & resource center for low to moderate income New Yorkers since 2001. We had a great summer!

This summer we welcomed 10 interns working closely with Khatia Mikadze, our Outreach Coordinator. These bright interns brought their passion to many events. From Brooklyn to the Bronx, our interns traveled around NYC sharing resources from LawHelpNY.

Summer 2015 Interns

The goal of our Intern Project was to reach to our target audience of low-income New Yorkers in all five boroughs of NYC and promote free access to the accurate and the most updated online information about legal referrals and resources.

The internship program ran for three months this summer, from May 18th to August 21st. Our interns were a diverse pool of undergraduates from all over the United States. There were 10 interns, out of which 4 were full timers and 6 part-time. This summer's intern pool had 7 different languages represented which turned out to be a great asset for the Court Navigator Program. Taking our mission and the goals into account, the internship includes three different components:Court Navigator Pilot Project, Outreach and Intern Education.

The Court Navigator Pilot Project was developed to support and assist unrepresented litigants during their court appearances in landlord-tenant and

consumer debt cases.

Summer 2015 InternsStreet outreach was done at least 3 times a week and at least 3 hours a day from June 1st to July 1st. During each Street Outreach event, interns visited at least 6 locations. This summer we partnered with NYLAG once again. Our interns helped at the Mobile Help Center in almost every borough of NYC. Theyprovided screening for the clients and assistance to NYLAG staff at the Van.
