Child Health Plus gives free or low-cost health insurance to children under 19 in New York State.

Your child can get Child Health Plus if they:

  • Are under 19 years old
  • Live in New York State
  • Don't have other health insurance
  • Don't qualify for Medicaid

Your immigration status doesn't matter. Your family's income doesn't matter. All children can apply.

What does Child Health Plus cover?

Child Health Plus covers:

Regular care:

  • Check-ups and well-child visits
  • Shots (vaccines)
  • Medicine (prescriptions)

Dental and vision:

  • Dental cleanings and fillings
  • Eye exams and glasses

Special care:

  • Physical therapy
  • Speech therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Mental health services
  • Emergency care
  • Hospital stays

How much does it cost?

The cost depends on your family's income:

  • $0 per month for most families
  • Up to $60 per month for families with higher incomes, which is usually much less than private insurance.

There are also no copays (fees when you see the doctor) and no deductibles (money you pay before insurance starts).

  • Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
