Besides your child's IEP, there are many services and supports that might help your child succeed in school.
These extra services can make learning easier and help your child participate in school activities.
Common services include:
- Accommodations - changes to how your child takes tests or does assignments, like getting extra time
- Special materials - large print books, audio versions, or digital text
- Adaptive equipment - special chairs, communication devices, or mobility tools
- Adapted physical education - modified gym class activities
- Paraprofessional services - help from a classroom aide
- Extended school year services - summer programs to prevent losing skills
Other helpful programs:
- Travel training - teaches older students how to use public transportation safely
- Transition services - helps students go back to general education if they no longer need special education
All of these services work together with your child's IEP to help them succeed.
