Who We Are

The goal of the Housing Program is to preserve tenancies and increase affordable housing for low-income clients. Without high-quality legal assistance, low-income tenants are at a disadvantage when negotiating with landlords, city officials, corporations or other entities for better housing conditions.

Tenants are often taken advantage of and are subjected to discriminatory and unlawful practices that include deferred maintenance and unlawful eviction practices or rent increases. We represent tenants individually in Supreme and Housing courts, defending them in eviction proceedings, and, if necessary, bringing affirmative cases to ensure that their landlords provide essential services and perform adequate repair and maintenance work.
