Who We Are
The Center for Dispute Settlement (CDS) is a not-for-profit providing Mediation, Restorative Practices, Facilitation and Arbitration services throughout 8-County NYS Finger Lakes Region. We also provide trainings for agencies, businesses and civic groups on Conflict Resolution, Mediation, Peer Mediation, Implicit Bias/Cultural Competency.
The Center was founded in 1973 as the first community dispute resolution program established in New York State and the third in the country. The Center was created on the premise that community mediation centers should be different from traditional providers of alternative dispute resolution services. In recognition of this difference, the agency’s primary focus is on interpersonal, minor criminal, civil disputes and quality of life issues that impact families and communities.
