New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG)

NYLAG provides free legal services, financial counseling, and engages in policy advocacy to help people experiencing poverty. Our clients strive to build better lives for themselves, families, and communities. We are proud to join them in their fight for justice. We offer a broad range of services to NYC residents including employment law, consumer protection, tenants’ rights, public benefits, special education, mediation, foreclosure prevention, healthcare advocacy, and immigration services among others.

For NYLAG's Domestic Violence Law Unit, we help survivors of IPV and SA in family court matters (custody, visitation, support, and orders of protection), contested and uncontested divorces, appeals of family and matrimonial matters, and IPV/DV/SA based immigration matters (U/T visas, VAWA Self-Petitions, Battered Spouse Waivers, and related Adjustment of Status applications).  We assist all crime victims with compensation claims.

We serve all five boroughs for full representation; we can provide legal information and advice for survivors throughout NYS.
