Children with behavioral needs have a right to services like special education and accommodations under the law called IDEA. As a parent, you can ask for evaluations, help make the IEP plan, and appeal decisions.
You can work with the school team, and also bring advocates to help explain rights and support your child.
Visit Advocates for Children of New York to learn more about the steps you can take to help protect your child's right to receive an appropriate education when your child is having a behavior problem.
