An "uncontested" divorce is where both you and the person you want to divorce agree to divorce and there is an agreement about what will happen to your finances and property after the divorce. You can use this program if: You and the person you want to divorce are over 18 years of age, You and the person you want to divorce have no "children" under 21 years of age, Your marriage has been over for at least 6 months and your relationship can't be saved, AND All marital property issues, including debt, have been settled.

 

Family Court Custody/Visitation Enforcement/Violation Petition Program

You can use the Custody/Visitation Enforcement Petition if the custody or visitation order is not being followed. This free program will help you fill out the petition that you will need to file in Family Court.

Surrogate's Court 17A Guardianship Petition Program

Surrogate's Court can appoint a parent or other relative the guardian of a mentally retarded or developmentally disabled person through an Article 17-A Guardianship proceeding. Article 17-A provides for legal guardianship of a person even after he or she reaches the age of 18. You can use the free and easy Do-It-Yourself Article 17-A Guardianship Petition program to fill out the forms you need to start the 17-A Guardianship proceeding.

 

Family Court Paternity Petition Program

Online NYC Nonpayment Tenant Answer Program

This online, interactive program will give you information and help you prepare to answer a New York City nonpayment petition if you live in rent-stabilized or NYCHA housing. 

 

Tenant Affidavit (Order to Show Cause) to Vacate a Default Judgment

This free and easy program should be used only if you already have a judgment against you from the New York City Housing Court. The program will ask questions that help you prepare a document that tells a judge why you missed your court date, or didn't answer a non-payment or holdover case in Housing Court. When you finish the program, you can print the document called an "Affidavit in Support of an Order to Show Cause" which you should give to the Clerk in the Housing Court. The Affidavit asks the judge to let you come back to court (i.e. restore the case to the Court calendar). To access this interactive form, click on the "Go to form" tab.

 

Tenant Affidavit to Restore Case to Calendar Program

Use this form if you need to go back to housing court to ask the judge to do something more on your case such as 1) give you more time to do what you promised to do, or 2) get the landlord to do what they promised to do or 3) for any other reason directly related to your housing case. Before you start filling out this form, it?s best to have the paper you signed in front of you so you can copy certain information the form asks you to provide. If this isn?t possible, you need to know who is suing whom in the case so the court can find the case in their records.

 

Tenant Vacate Default Judgment Program

This free and easy program will ask you questions and make papers that help you tell a judge why you missed your court date in a landlord-tenant nonpayment or holdover case. When you finish the program, you can print an “Order to Show Cause,” and “Affidavit in Support” which you must give to the Court Clerk. The papers ask the judge to let you come back to court to explain why the judgment against you should be vacated. You should only use this program if there is a judgment against you.

Use this interactive interview to write a letter to a creditor collecting a bill that is in your name, but a bill you did not authorize. You can use this letter if your credit card statement lists charges you didn't make or authorize. It can also be used in any situation where your credit or identity was used without your permission. The small estate administration is a simplified court procedure available if the person who died did not have many assets. You can ask the Surrogate's Court to let you divide and give away their property to people who have a legal right to inherit.  To do this you need to file a form called an "Affidavit of Voluntary Administration," also known as the "small estate affidavit."  This free program will help you create the affidavit that you will need to file in Surrogate's Court.
