A union can help workers solve problems in the workplace. If you want to form a union, talk to your co-workers to build support about issues they are facing. Sometimes workers form an organizing committee. You can contact an established union for support and guidance or you and your coworkers can organize an independent union.
Gather union authorization cards/petitions from co-workers to show support for forming a union. Union authorization cards are documents that workers sign showing support for union representation.
Once organizers collect signed cards or petitions from co-workers, there are generally two paths to form a union:
- Majority signup/Voluntary recognition
- National Labor Relations Board election
