Deed fraud and scams occur in different ways. It can be hard to identify. Examples of deed fraud:

  • someone files a deed transfer of your property without your permission
  • someone tricks you into signing over your property in another transaction, such as signing a home repairs contract.

Beware of the Warning Signs!

Scammers may pressure you to sign paperwork, ask for fees, or guarantee “government-approved” or “official government” loan modifications. Scammers may try to keep you away from getting other advice or help.
